Las Piñas City empowers public servants with sign language skills

In its initiative to enhance communication within the community, the City Local Government of Las Piñas, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office, has successfully conducted a Basic Sign Language Training program. This two-week program, held from December 1st to 14th, 2023, at the Senior Citizens Center in Barangay Talon Dos, marks a significant step towards building a more inclusive society.

The training saw the participation of 38 individuals from the Philippine National Police, Barangay Health Workers, Civil Registry employees, and other City Hall staff. This initiative underscores the city's commitment to ensuring that its public servants are well-equipped to serve all community members, including those who communicate through sign language.

The successful graduates of this program paid a courtesy visit to City Vice Mayor April Aguilar on Tuesday, January 16th, at the City Hall. This visit was not only a celebration of their achievement but also exhibits the city's dedication to enhancing the capabilities of its workforce.

Vice Mayor Aguilar, in her address, commended the graduates for their commitment and enthusiasm in embracing this new skill.
