The City Health Office of Las Piñas, in collaboration with the City Social Welfare and Development Office, organized a large-scale flu vaccination drive tailored for persons with disabilities (PWDs). The event, held at the Heritage Covered Court in BF Resort Village, Barangay Talon Dos, emphasized the local government's commitment to inclusive healthcare.
The vaccination drive, which took place on Tuesday, December 5th, saw an impressive turnout, with an estimated 600 PWDs receiving their flu shots. This initiative is part of a broader effort to safeguard vulnerable populations against seasonal influenza, especially important amidst the ongoing challenges posed by COVID-19.
Dr. Juliana Gonzales, Officer-in-Charge of the City Health Office, graced the event, highlighting the importance of these drives in her address. “Pinapabukanahan natin ang mga PWDs against the flu kasi gusto natin sila bigyan ng proteksyon kasi pwede rin po sila magkaroon ng mga complication brought by the infection. Nakita po kasi natin na medyo dumadami ang trangkaso sa paligid natin ngayon,” she said.
The City Health Office and the City Social Welfare and Development Office’s joint effort in organizing this event was crucial in reaching out to the PWD community, who often face barriers in accessing healthcare services. This vaccination drive is a part of Las Piñas City’s ongoing efforts to promote public health and prevent disease outbreaks.
